How Are You, Really?

I asked you yesterday how you were doing
You looked me in the eye
 And said you were fine.
I smiled, knowing it was a lie.
I knew, because your masked feelings
 Were the same as mine.

 Our lives changed overnight.
This is not just a disease
 It’s a war, it’s a fight.
I miss my people so much
 All I hear is,
Don’t go there and “Please don’t touch!”

 We put on our mask
 Every time we step out,
 Keeping our distance
Is no more a big task.
 The news is depressing
 The numbers are rising
 Everywhere we look
 People are dying.

 So many struggling
 With depression and anxiety.
And many more we hear of
 are giving up their sobriety.
 How can we be alright?
When the world is a sorry sight.
 Sickness and death,
 That’s all the newspapers write.

 So my friend,
 I ask you again,
 Please tell me seriously
 How are you, really?
 We’re all in this together
 We can help each other.
It’s okay to not be okay.
All we can do is pray.

I can tell you dear friend,
 I’m feeling overwhelmed
 I’m scared and I’m tired
I just want this to end.

 You see,
To say what’s in your heart
 It’s quite an easy affair.
 Come on now
 It’s your turn to share.
 So tell me again,
 This time truthfully,
 How are you, really??

  1. Tired 😓 of what’s happening around . Waiting for everything to be normal but then again was anything ever normal. Waiting when this world will be a place the way God created it to be
